Know what an Imp Shaloop is? Neither did I. An Imp Shaloop is an Indian trickster spirit that feeds off human shame. This particular Imp Shaloop is called Ted and he visits Bon Temps and decides to feed on the shame of those inside Merlotte’s. He is also after revenge, but nobody knows why. Ted is certainly not a delightful character. He is a tentacled man/spirit that likes to slap people around with his tentacles and kill those that get in his way. In this volume, Eric, Bill, Sookie, Sam, Lafayette, Jason and Tara are all forced to tell their most shameful stories, with the promise that Ted will leave them alone afterwards.
What follows are some really sad and shameful stories that gives you a bit of background information on the True Blood characters. The dialogue was true to form and I found Tara and Lafayette particularly accurate. The art was not bad at all. My only complaint was that a lot of the characters looked very square now and then, and at some point Sookie seemed hairless. But I got over it quite quickly as I was pulled into the story.
Overall a great depiction of the True Blood characters and general feel. I will definitely continue this series and can’t wait to see what happens! The end certainly made me curious about whats next.
