“In Robin York’s sizzling debut, a college student is attacked online and must restore her name—and stay clear of a guy who’s wrong for her, but feels so right.” – Goodreads
This book was a complete and utter shock to me. I wasn’t prepared to love it as much as I did. At first I thought the characters were not going to work for me, but I was so wrong. It soon became clear that the characters were richly developed, full of emotions and they popped out of the page in a very real way!
The book follows Caroline and how she handles an online attack, started by someone she trusted. Her life feels destroyed and she is ridiculed by everyone who finds out. Except West, a loner baker who sells drugs on the side. Neither of them are sure of one another, but one thing is certain, they certainly don’t need any more complications in their lives! Slowly they start becoming friends and it changes the game completely.
Caroline was a very likable and sensible character and I found myself rooting for her. Where West was a little harder for me to understand. He had a rough childhood and tried everything he could to get away from it, but yet I found him still clinging to his former life.
I found the situation Caroline found herself in, very interesting. We have all done some really stupid things in our lives, the only difference is hers were put out there for the world to see and comment on. If I was Caroline, I don’t think I would have been so calm about her ex-boyfriend. I would have punched him every single time I saw him. However, she probably did the sensible thing.
Lastly, there are extremely hot scenes in this book. And I meant HOT well written scenes. These scenes felt real and I could feel the emotions radiating from the characters! If you like romance, with some great sex scenes and characters that feel real, then you need to read this book!
“When you surround yourself with lies, all the real things start to break.”
This got a 8/10 from me.
