“An essential collection of hassle-free, vibrant vegan recipes, from the author behind Food52’s wildly popular The New Veganism and Vegan Lunch columns. This lush, modern collection features 60 recipes for dependable yet fresh vegan standbys, including bold pasta dishes, hearty stews, inventive bean burgers, nourishing whole grains, innovative salads, and rich desserts. Food52 columnist, certified clinical nutritionist, and author Gena Hamshaw’s approach to vegan cooking will appeal to vegans, flexitarians, and omnivores alike: At its heart, vegan food is just food. Creative, satisfying, and colorful, it offers tremendous possibility to the home cook. With exquisite photography for every dish and abundant “kitchen confidence” tips throughout–such as making cashew cream for rich soups, using nutritional yeast to add umami to a batch of fresh pesto, and adding avocado to breakfast smoothies for a creamy texture–this will be every home cook’s go-to guide for incorporating plant-based dishes into their daily routine.” – Goodreads
I love making new things, but I’m not creative enough to think outside of the box and just wing it. So this book was exactly what I needed! I found myself wanting to try all the recipes right away! The recipes are easy, short, well presented and have fairly easily found ingredients! I have been too scared to cook with certain ingredients, and this book helped me with chia seeds. I never thought it would really work… was I wrong!!!
The only complaint is that some of the recipes require some expensive ingredients, but they will be nice for a ‘everyone once and a while’ situations. However, Food52 Vegan will leave you hungry and ready to shop for ingredients! And with a great content index that lists all the recipes by meal will only make that easier!
Here is a taste of the recipes in this book:
- Date Nut Bread
- Peach Crumble Coffee Cake
- Sesame Flax Crackers
- Corn Chowder with Chive Oil
- Zucchini Quinoa Cakes
- Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti
- Mexican Chocolate Date Truffles
Banana Chia Pudding
Can I just say whoohooooo! This was awesome. My first chia seed pudding and it was delicious! Super easy to make and husband (carnivore) tested! He ate two whole bowls!
This got a 8/10 from me.
