“The Neptune Grand has always been the seaside town’s ritziest hotel, despite the shady dealings and high-profile scandals that seem to follow its elite guests. When a woman claims that she was brutally assaulted in one of its rooms and left for dead by a staff member, the owners know that they have a potential powder keg on their hands. They turn to Veronica to disprove—or prove—the woman’s story.
The case is a complicated mix of hard facts, mysterious occurrences, and uncooperative witnesses. The hotel refuses to turn over its reservation list and the victim won’t divulge who she was meeting that night. Add in the facts that the attack happened months ago, the victim’s memory is fuzzy, and there are holes in the hotel’s surveillance system, and Veronica has a convoluted mess on her hands. As she works to fill in the missing pieces, it becomes clear that someone is lying—but who? And why?” – Goodreads
Once again I emerged myself in the world of Veronica Mars and the seedy life of Neptune. I get this great pleasure whenever I get to read/watch Veronica Mars so it comes as no surprise that I loved this book!
What made this one so special, is that Logan was in it! I am a big LoVe fan. But I have to admit, seeing Leo again made me smile. I would be very torn if ever Veronica has to choose between them again! I love where both Leo and Logan are with their lives and I hope to see more of both of them in the next book and/or movie.
All the old favorites were also featured, namely, Mac, Wallace, Weevil and even Cliff! I must admit is a bit strange that Mac is still working for the Mars family, I feel like she could make a lot more money somewhere else, and didn’t she turn down Kaine software to work for them?
I loved the mystery in this book. Sure, it was really terrible, but I loved how Veronica bit down and would not let go until she solved it! I was also pleasantly surprised that we got an update on the Mannings, even if it wasn’t ideal. Now Duncan next please!
Whenever I watch or read any VM mysteries I get a distinct Nancy Drew feel, and I get a flashback to me as a young girl devouring the Nancy Drew books!
I cannot recommend the Veronica Mars TV series, movie and books more! They are my guilty pleasure and I am sure I will be a fan for years to come!
And can I just say:
If you read the book, you know what I mean 🙂
“I also drink Scotch. But I’m not picky. I’ll take the victory Scotch, or the Scotch of defeat. Or the rotgut swill.”
This got a 9/10 from me.
